I have Dyslexia. Dyslexia means you are a picture thinker, you take mental pictures in your head. Some words like was, I cannot get a picture for it so it is hard for me to read.  Many people think Dyslexia is a disability.  I know my dyslexia is a gift because I can see things differently from others.  I have troubles reading and writing.  I only found out I had dyslexia last year because my Mom and Dad both said” Your reading isn’t at your grade level.” So…I went to go see Helen. Helen is a teacher who helps people with Dyslexia. She helped me to get better at reading and writing. I went in her one week program to help me. Helen is a great teacher.  Helen taught me how to get on point by putting your hand on your head, stretching out your arm and imagining a dot with three lines connecting to your head.  Once I am on point we would then play with two koosh balls.  If you are wondering what koosh balls are, they are soft balls with rubbery strings all around them.  Helen and I would toss them back and forth while standing on one leg.  Doing this would help me to get focussed.  Once I got focussed we would then do some clay work.  To do this I would pick a word, look it up in the dictionary, make a sentence using the word and then make a clay model to describe the word.  I would also spell the word in clay, front wards and backwards.  So anytime after that if I saw the same word, I would picture the clay in my head and then know what the word was.
