How does the program affect a person’s self-esteem?  ^Top

Improvement in self-esteem is usually seen in the first few days of the program as the person begins to experience success with learning for the first time.

Can your method help solve other learning challenges?  ^Top

Yes.  Here are a few examples:

  • Dyscalculia (math problems)
  • Dysgraphia (handwriting difficulties)
  • ADD (attention deficit disorder)
  • Auditory perception difficulties
  • Motor coordination difficulties
  • Problems with time and organization

These stem from the same cause as dyslexia, so they too can be addressed.

Can someone lose their natural abilities after your program?  ^Top

No. Our method utilizes the client's strengths.  It unleashes their ability to learn quickly and thoroughly.  In fact, their natural abilities are enhanced.

Who can participate in a Davis Program?^Top

Adults and children over 7 years who are struggling with learning challenges. Each client must be willing and motivated to pursue the program for self-improvement, not because someone else insists.

What can the client expect to gain?   ^Top

The basic tools of literacy, including:

  • The ability to recognize and correct disorientations at will.
  • The ability to focus attention.
  • The knowledge of how to eliminate confusions in words and symbols.
  • Increased self-confidence and ability in reading, writing, math or physical skills.
  • A method of learning that can be used throughout life.
  • Other remediation and therapy programs will work better and faster with these tools.

The client should master, in clay, the 217 “trigger words”.  This follow-up work could be completed over several months. These techniques can be used to master any word, concept or subject. Follow-up support is also included as part of the program.  This consists of:

  • Client Symbol Mastery Kit (includes manual, dictionary, grammar book, clay and other study aids)
  • Training is provided for a tutor, teacher or family members assisting with the ongoing follow-up work
  • Telephone consultations
  • Up to three return visits, as needed for program review

There is usually a marked difference by the last day of the program.  This is a literacy jump-start.  Future progress is determined by the individual's motivation, and continued use of Davis Symbol Mastery® after the program.
